Richmond is now a laboratory for online journalism startups, including the one owned by Chevron, whose massive refinery looms over the city and has been the focus of ongoing concerns over toxic emissions.

The future of journalism appears to be moving towards corporate propaganda outlets instead of independent investigation, be it WaPo and Bezos or the Richmond Standard and Chevron.

    Richmondside just started there a couple months ago. They should give them a chance to get on their feet.

    The sibling sites in Oakland and Berkeley are not known for hard-hitting muckraking journalism, but they do a solid job covering local issues and go deep into election campaigns.
