Not sure if it’s a life pro tip, an ADHD pro tip, or a cat owners’ pro tip, but I’ve forgotten food in the microwave so many times after putting it there to keep my cat out of it, it kinda hurts. I always allow my food to cool some before putting it away, but these days, I use a microwave timer to remind me. It won’t shut up unless I go push a button. And while I’m in there, I might as well clean the rest of the kitchen. Since I’m up.

By the way, I woke up to cat barf on my countertop. How’s your morning going?

    That’s a fine tip.
The thing is I found a way for my microwave to not make any beeping sound ever and I can’t give that up now.
No beeping at me whenever I touch a button, no beeping to tell me it’s done, no beeps, ever, it’s simply fabulous.
We can wake up at night and heat something without waking everyone else.

I deeply hate all appliances that beep at me.
Don’t get me started on all the garbage appliances like dishwashers and washing machines that play whole-ass-songs when they’re done.
I keep repairing my old ones, and I dread the time when I’ll have no other choice but to replace them.

    I kinda enjoy silence.

I crack open all my appliances* and put a little dab of silicone on the piezo speaker. The beeps are still there for feedback, but at a much more tolerable level.

*Except my stove, it gets to yell loudly.
