Jon Stewart dives into Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, a.k.a. DOGE, and how the Elon Musk-led project masks its allegiance to corporate overlords and negligence to the American people under the guise of slashing the government’s budget.

Is Jon still on the “this isn’t fascism” team?

I lost interest in jon and the daily show when they condemned Luigi. They’re just a bunch of capitalist liberals through and through.

I was watching this whole thing, specifically thinking of the people who try to say that Jon Stewart is in some way part of the establishment. You need to watch this. Especially the last few seconds.

I suspect this is of a piece with “Elizabeth Warren = Blackrock” and “Substack = Nazis” and “Bernie Sanders = just a side kick for the Democrats” and basically every fucking thing which is just casting about for some possible reason to take a big, smelly shit on anybody and everybody who shows any kind of sign that they might potentially be on our team. He’s been stepping out going to bat for working people, sick people, people who are getting fucked by the system, and providing the exact same anti-bullshit-liberal-Democrat-not-really-doing-anything voice that all the Lemmy edgelords sound like they wish somebody with an actual platform would provide. He does some of it in this clip. Who passes your test? Who is somebody, anybody anywhere in politics or journalism, activism or media, who is pure enough for you not to kick them in the balls in a half-assed comment any time they come out and try to do something good?

Stop shitting on people who are on your team and speaking out for you.

Just because he doesn’t speak for me, doesn’t mean I don’t respect him. He’s a voice that is desperately needed in the mainstream for sure. But when he pals around with Bill Oreilly on his show it pisses me right off.

Yeah, he sure is a big piece of shit. Back when white cops were killing black people on the street, and basically always getting away with it, he was relentless about covering it, in detail, and making pointed arguments to a massive audience of average Americans about how it was (a) systemic, not a series of individual one-off incidents (b) a massive fucking problem. Basically 0 of the other news at the time wanted to cover it in any way even resembling that.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_98ojjIZDI

It’s kind of wild going back and watching some of the old footage, and watching “no indictment” “not guilty” “internal investigation” and so on, and I remember at the time watching Stewart getting increasingly pointed and increasing furious about it. And, on TV, he was the only one. For years he was the only one. He basically created the conversation in the mainsteam about how it was a problem. Everyone who knew what was what (especially in the non-white community) knew it was a problem, of course, but he brought it to people who simply would never have heard of it otherwise. He brought it from a fringe idea to a mainstream American consensus. He did that for a bunch of things.

But yeah, he’s a big piece of shit because he had O’Reilly on and debated him. He did Tucker Carlson too, and was so effective in taking him down that they cancelled Carlson’s show.

I asked before: Who passes your purity test?

Ha, you caught me before I felt bad and edited out the “Go fuck yourself.”

Yes, I care about people who tell the truth on TV. It’s fine if you don’t like Jon Stewart or anybody else, obviously. You chose to come into the comments and say weird bullshit about him, and it irritated me. Absolutely.

                Here’s another good one:

That’s fair. It’s just my opinion from the few times I’ve tried to give him a chance. It’s cool that you’re big fan, he just doesn’t speak for me, that’s all.

Not just at the pharmaceutical companies. At the Democrats for enabling it all, and giving a shitty deal to the American people and then coming out and pretending they’re doing a great job whenever they’re able to beg an additional crumb back from big business that they can give back to the American people. Who are funding the entire banquet they’re not able to eat at, the entire time.

You can rewind a little bit and see how the entire thing that got him pissed off in the first place is Biden presenting one of those crumbs to everyone, as if it was a grand trophy he had won for them.

The people who are out here "through and through"ing are making up total bullshit, in other words.
