Don’t get me wrong, and the question is completely genuine.

One of the things I miss - albeit a little - about Twitter was the learning I was able to do on certain topics, for free.

Obviously I had to really, really filter what I wanted to see on Twitter, to be able to read interesting things and learn some things regarding different topics - like football, music, etc…

While Lemmy, in my opinion, is an excellent and better alternative to reddit and WriteFreely seems like a viable and best alternative to blogger/medium, I would like to know if in your opinion, places like Mastodon or Pleroma are, in fact, an alternative to twitter. I would like to know your opinion.

I confess that in this aspect I miss Twitter a bit, because I could see content from people trained and studies in topics I wanted to read, but I don’t know what the content is like, in general, on Mastodon, Pleroma, etc…

Taking into account is Twitter is a mass social network, will it be difficult to find this type of thing on Mastodon, Pleroma, etc?

Mastodon etc are to twitter what lemmy is to reddit. Smaller, and so harder to find niche content, but still a worthwhile replacement
