LAVAL, Que. - A union representing Airbus Canada workers at a plant in Mirabel, Que., where the company assembles A220 jets, says employees have overwhelmingly rejected the firm's latest offer.
As a software engineer who got a 4% increase last year (after 9% inflation) and 2.50% increase this year that will take effect in October (which sounds like time where the company might be planning to cut staff), I wish we had unions.
i feel it’s hard to start a software engineering union because there are several programmers whode jump jobs on their own accord because of various reasons. Id assume its the odd man out to be the type that would stay with a company for a good chunk of your career, unless youre that one engineer who has a guaranteed stable job because you know COBOL and some company cant hire anyone else because no one learns said language.

Be the change you wanna see in the world.
You get me a job where you work and I’ll help start a union with you.
