I don’t find it the least bit evil that a fraudulent religious org would buy thousands of acres of land while regular people are unable to own homes during a housing crisis. That’s what fraudulent religious orgs are for. That’s why I’m starting one today.
It doesn’t need to be a religious org though. You could start some sort of renter’s union who would buy terrains. I bet it exists already and started as a good thing and turned evil somehow. Does that exist?
I used to do locksmithing work for the Mormon churches in my area (through a property management company). One thing I learned, is they own whole subdivisions of homes (100s of houses), for their members. Typically wherever the church is. They also act as a kind of HOA for those subdivisions. Always thought that was kind of odd…
Makes sense for an institution that exercises excessive control over their members.
At least some of them exploit loopholes like soaking.
Poophole loophole.
I think you mean “New Utah”.
I wish that kind of societal safety net could exist outside of religion. Wouldn’t it be cool if a government that exists for the good of its citizens nationalized thousands of acres of farmland to ensure a steady food supply instead of relying on giving billions in subsidies to wealthy landowners?

Theyre gonna have Deseret one way or another!
