MDMA didn’t have a lobbyist group in its favor, otherwise we’d probably be all aware of the reality of effects like Oxycontin.
It’s not horribly physically addictive, so lobbyists aren’t interested.
One hit of MDMA and Cannabis and you’re fine. One dose of opioids and you’re hooked for life, giving companies money and willing to pay for it over rent, food, your hobbies, your interests, and willing to stay with it over your friends and family.
Which one is legal?
That…is not how addiction works.

I’ve been off/on opiods for 30+ years now (chronic pain from injuries and congenital issues).
