Illithids got it bad tbh, in at least one edition they’re not innately evil but indoctrinated into a cult where they get mind controlled and ultimately eaten by a giant brain, that brain is the real villain.

Pretty sure there are no ilithid children. They just sort of concert other races to full adult ilithids.
However, you could make the case that gnome ceremorphs or gnome squidlings could pretend to be kids if a normal mindflayer wanted some fucked up version of a family for whatever reason.
