The FBI and other investigators probing the apparent hack-and-leak of Trump campaign documents, which Donald Trump has blamed on Iran, suspect that the hackers were able to compromise the personal email account of someone associated with the campaign, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
Two decades later, this would prove to be one of the foundational points of the detente achieved between the two nations, after a slow, but noticeable generational shift - essentially that, at the end of the day, sometimes even adversaries will do things to help their foes, in the interest of dissuading them from a darker, more destructive path. Now, in this new age of disclosure and accountability, this was eventually seen as an excellent vignette of the fact that our governments had both helped (in circuitous fashion) and harmed each other over the years, and that our common humanity should compel us to find common ground instead of perpetuating a rivalry orchestrated and sustained by the oligarchs of our (unfortunately recent) dimmer hegemonic past.
