There it is, folks, the Ford Government wants us dead.
I was never a hostile cyclist, but I guess I’ll need to become one in order to fight against this war for personal safety.
Here’s to hoping that DoFo and his cult get stuck in traffic for an eternity.
Smooth brains strikes again. No brains would be better honestly
Maybe a gofundme to purchase a million used bikes that get delivered to the middle of these streets?
Save them for the ghost bikes that’ll be needed in the coming years.
We have a bet with a couple of friends who pass through Bloor around Jane regularly. They think traffic is gonna significantly improve when the lanes are removed. I think they’ll be badly surprised.
Sad. I presume it is still legal to bike on those streets, or in the city, and so there’s no actual traffic improvement during busy periods. Just less safe.
Bike volumes will probably significantly reduce due to dangerous nature of biking among traffic, which is probably exactly what DoFo wants.
Yeah, I feel like someone should make bumper stickers that say something like, “If it was safe, I’d be on my bike instead, and out of your way.”
I’m not sure. I would bike on those streets before bike lanes, and the lanes have “taught” people how to ride bikes. For Bloor, There are side street routes east of high park/Dundas. College is ok. Short spurts on Dundas and Bloor (though this is high speed parts of those streets). After Humber river, west, there’s more side street routes. Hopefully at least a painted lane still exists on those stretches, but it is not a parking area.
I presume it is still legal to bike on those streets
For now, it’s still legal. But since you can’t sue the government if/when you get hurt (or killed), and they’ve already said that “for your safety” to not ride a bike on those streets when the bike lanes are gone, you have a no-win situation.
Plus, people in cars are now emboldened to abuse cyclists, since the boss said it was ok.
