I’m in the market for a new laptop and I’ve been checking out the Lenovo Slim 7i (14” Intel) Gen 9, which comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 32GB of soldered RAM, and a 1920x1200 60Hz OLED display. This setup is priced just over a grand (USD).

More details could be found here lenovo.com/ca

Time and time again questions like these come up, and always go unanswered or ignored, mostly since the very question is wrong. Any computer is a good Linux computer, as well as (maybe kinda) any computer is a good Windows computer.

Instead of asking “is X good for Y”, you should give us more information about your workflow. A thinkpad that is perfect for code editing or general office work is next to useless for CAD work or games.

So, my advice, in future, tell us what you’re looking for. The underlying OS is just a tool for running your programs. Hope this doesn’t come accross as condescending, this isn’t my goal :)

For real… My 2009 Dell Studio was a great Linux machine after Windows decided that 4Gi of RAM was not enough. My 2015 Dell XPS is still perfectly usable, even for moderately large software Dev tasks
