On here https://perchance.org/ai-chat One of the example characters is Phoebe. Here’s a screenshot
Problem is that this character is mine. https://venus.chub.ai/characters/boner/phoebe-7aeb8648ce50 Uploaded here without credit (as far as I can see) or permission.
Fair, sorry. I’ve taken it down. You mentioned in a comment in this thread that you’d be okay with me keeping it there if I added credit, which is nice of you. I think your profile (and your original nsfw version of this character) is probably too nsfw to link to unfortunately. A lot of the character cards and character card sites seem to be very heavy on the nsfw content.
I should probably create all the example characters from scratch with some help from Claude or R1. Some of them have already been almost completely rewritten and have different pics, but even then the original creator still deserves credit for the core idea.
(That said, I’ll probably attempt to selfishly put off a re-write of the examples for now because at some point in the hopefully-very-near future I’ll finish creating the “database plugin”, and at that point the work to redo the examples would be wasted because the examples will be removed in favor of a community-contributed database of characters, implemented using that plugin.)
Alright! Thank you for your help. Feel free to use any of my SFW stuff as long as a credit is put somewhere.
this character is mine
First, let’s talk about all the pictures that you certainly drew yourself here: https://venus.chub.ai/users/boner
Actually for quite a while now I’ve been using images generated by my fans. I’ve had one or two artists whose art I used ask me to remove it, and I did. I also had one artist create more art of the character because she loved what I did with her. Point being I don’t mind my writing being used, but it would be nice if someone at least acknowledged it.
Did you possibly give them permission when you agreed to terms and conditions?
As I said elsewhere, I never used this AI. This character wasn’t generated or written here. It was written and posted on a different website.
Apologies, totally misunderstood that important point.
No prob 😁
Are we really trying to claim that a vague, generic description is worthy of copyright? lolwut.
It’s not just a vague description. It’s apparently a description good enough to serve as a template. Again I’m not asking for anything other than a credit. Because I wrote it, and they took what I wrote and they are using it without asking me.
“Because I wrote it, and they took what I wrote and they are using it without asking me.”
I’m using that, and I’m not gonna tell anyone where I got it from! MWahahahahaha!
For real… it’d make sense if it was some sort of original idea… but it’s literally a generic descriptor made up of other generic descriptions. And not even in any sort of “unique” combination. You fighting this fight would be like trying to claim that someone copying any one of the above sentences is “stealing my work”.
“A generic descriptor made up of generic descriptions” I don’t think you quite know what you’re talking about. But the mods apparently don’t agree as they have removed it.
So… Are you claiming some kind of financial or reputational loss or harm, or any other kind of loss or harm?
I’m just asking to be credited for people using my writing. It’s not like they used their own AI to make a similar character, they just copy pasted my work. I don’t make money off of this, but it would be nice to be acknowledged if they think my work is good enough to be an example.
What makes you think it’s not an automated process? What do the terms and conditions say about your rights and whether you give Perchance the right to use your inputs to the system?
I have never used this AI system. I post all of my work over on Venus/chub. Someone had to go to a different website and copy paste the text onto this one. The only way I know this character was used is that someone who uses this website told me they saw it here.
Ahh, I misunderstood! That’s unfortunate, I’m sorry someone just ripped your work like that :( in that case, the site admins would probably take it down if you could get in touch with them, at least off the front page. They might be willing or able to create a filter for your work so people can’t use it with the generator if they don’t modify it enough.
Unfortunately it’s something you’re going to have to actively watch for and reach out about because site owners are largely protected from the actions of their users by the DMCA, as long as they respond to such takedown requests from rightsholders expeditiously. This does mean that they’ll take any message you send them seriously though, and reaching out will show that your work is valuable enough to you that you’re willing to defend your copyrights.
