Oh shit, that’s the first time I’m seeing digital price tags in action. Dystopian af.

Why dystopian? Prices changes all the time. Seems easier to update the price of eggs in a computer and have all the tags update at once. I doubt they have the just for eggs either. I imagine they have them for most everything in the store. I don’t think it would make sense to do it for just one item.

Digital tags means they can increase the prices in real time. Imagine products trading like a stock ticker.

That would be the easiest way to lose customers. It’s already bad enough when it happens accidentally at stores. Doing it intentionally will just make people go elsewhere, if they have the choice.

If would technically allow them to do that. I just don’t see why they would.

There’s also nothing stopping them from updating the price throughout the day as-is. It’s just more inconvenient.

Doing it manually is far to labour extensive. Digital can be done automatically without any effort.

Also funny you say “choice” when most people live in food deserts.

Too labor intensive for everything, but I can’t imagine you’d need or want to do that for most products. It’d be a few products, like eggs right now, where supply or demand are changing quickly.
