When we took over this impressive eagle owl a few days ago, he was very dazed and unable to fly. He had a concussion, an injury to one eye, and a bruise in the area of his shoulder girdle.
We don’t know whether the eagle owl flew into a window, a car, or another obstacle. He was found lying on the ground in a garden in Eibesthal and brought to us. He was so disoriented that we had to feed him by hand.
After several days of intensive care and medication, the eagle owl has now recovered somewhat. We were able to move him from his sick box to an aviary. He is now able to reach the upper perches in his enclosure by flying.
However, the bruise in his shoulder area is still causing him some problems, so he will have to stay with us for a while. We hope that he will fully recover and that we can then release him.

Als wir diesen imposanten Uhu vor einigen Tagen übernommen haben, war er sehr benommen und flugunfähig. Er hatte eine Gehirnerschütterung, eine Verletzung an einem Auge und eine Prellung im Bereich seines Schultergürtels.
Wir wissen nicht, ob der Uhu gegen eine Fensterscheibe, ein Auto oder ein anderes Hindernis geflogen ist. Er wurde in einem Garten in Eibesthal am Boden liegend gefunden und zu uns gebracht. Er war so desorientiert, dass wir ihn mit der Hand füttern mussten.
Nach einigen Tagen intensiver Pflege und Medikamentengabe hat sich der Uhu nun einigermaßen erholt. Wir konnten ihn aus seiner Krankenbox in eine Voliere übersiedeln.
Mittlerweile gelingt es ihm schon, die oberen Sitzstangen in seinem Gehege fliegend zu erreichen. Aber die Prellung im Schulterbereich macht ihm schon noch ein bisschen Probleme, deshalb muss er noch eine Weile bei uns bleiben. Aber wir hoffen, dass er sich vollständia erholen wird und wir ihn dann wieder freilassen können

i like that they seem to use all the letters in much more even amounts. In English, there’s a lot of slacking on the Gs and Ws and Bs, and we don’t even have any big B thing that sounds like ssss, No umlauts…
That would be the German efficiency, better make use of all the alphabetics and not leave any spares laying around! Also what an engineer-minded way to construct words: build a solid structure with the consonants before adding the filling vowels evenly. But sometimes when the balance is off and you put too much into it, especially in places of heavy stress, you end up with Angstschweiß.
