Leaks suggest that the Pixel 8 prices in Europe would be as follows (23% VAT included):

  • Pixel 8 - 128GB: €874.25;

  • Pixel 8 - 256GB: €949.30;

  • Pixel 8 Pro - 128GB: €1,235.72;

  • Pixel 8 Pro - 256GB: €1,309.95;

  • Pixel 8 Pro - 512GB: €1,461.24.

A really fat price hike if it’s true. Would you still go for a Pixel 8/8 Pro at these prices?

I personally see the Pixel 7 line becoming even more attractive as right now in Europe you can find a Pixel 7a for €479 (Amazon promo), a Pixel 7 for €533 (offers on Amazon, otherwise €649 on Google Store) and a Pixel 7 Pro for €789 (another Amazon promo).

    Guess I’m keeping my 7 Pro until it’s unusable then.

      I’m planning to do this.
      The pixel 7 Pro has a good camera and it’s quick. Battery is ok at best.

      But overall I might keep this a couple of years rather than wasting money

      Honestly the Pixel 7 line looks really good here, especially with the possible upcoming discounts on Google’s 25th anniversary if you live in Europe (see my other post). You might get one year less of guaranteed updates if you pick a Pixel 7 instead of a Pixel 8 but I guess paying almost double the price for just one year more of updates is kinda hard to justify.

    If I end up upgrading from P5. I’ll probably do it later from Amazon at reduced price.

    P5 honestly doesn’t feel old at all for me.

        The P5 fingerprint? I love it! I’m actually scared of trying the new ones under the screen. (Everything they put under the screen on the Pixel 5 is a downgrade versus the previous pixels for me).

          For me, it works terribly. Like 1 in 2 times, it just doesn’t work at all. My girlfriend’s Pixel 6 and its under-screen FP is much more reliable.

            Try this tip: grab a scotch tape, cut it until it is more or less like a circle and paste it over the (clean) sensor.

            I did this like 2 years ago and improved the feedback. It’s still going strong, the scotch tape never came out. I think it never fails for me.

    Hard to tell without knowing the specs. If it doesn’t offer improvements over 7pro, the 7 is a much better deal. The article doesn’t really provide the value information to make form an opinion.
