It’s interesting that redgifs links don’t seem to get views (probably because they don’t play in-line unless the post is clicked into). So testing theory out - trying imgchest links (which do embed and play in-line)
What’s funny is I use imagus mod to play the gifs on a mouseover, and it works fine for both of them. That said, today anyway, imgchest seems to be performing better than redgifs (loading faster).

Hmm, I don’t know what you mean by this mouseover…
But for me, on a tablet or mobile via browser, for redgifs link, it takes one extra click to click into the post, and then expand it to play, and then another click back to get to the main page of community… I have no issues with the playback or loading, but having to do extra clicks is cumbersome, and likely why people are not willing to view (just my guess)

Yeah, I’ve noticed that. That’s why I’ve been using ImgChest in all my posts. I hope they don’t have a problem with that.
Imgchest seems to be okay with that. The only thing I don’t like is they have a 30mb limit for video clips, so have to either downsize or degrade quality of video clips to fit that… Eventually, I think redgifs embedding will get solved by Lemmy admins.
