The article is mostly about Kari Lake being on her show, but wow.

“Kamala, she’s got citizenship issue,” Barr claimed, which is a baseless accusation, of course. “Did you see her where she tries to act like she’s human? They’re on the third clone with her. … She’s just [controlled by former President Barack] Obama, so he’s already on his third term destroying our country. And then so if he gets her in there, that’ll be his fourth term. He’s a little tyrant.”

As the conversation progressed, Lake suggested that Barr ought to run for president, which Barr asserted was unnecessary “because in 2012, I declared myself the de facto president of the American people for life.”

That explains, but does not excuse, her erratic behavior and the horrible shit she has said and done.

The GOP is exploiting an old woman’s deteriorating mental health. That’s what is happening here.

IMO it’s honestly on the media. Same with Kanye.

        Just let the fools rest.

However much is fair to lay on the media, the people that make up the audience for those two are more to blame. The media wouldn’t give Kanye and Roseanne the time of day if they didn’t each have eager audiences.

I kinda get what you are saying but a more apt analogy would be comparing the media to the drug dealers and manufacturers rather than the drug war.

Yes. And in that metaphor, the drug users aren’t the ones to blame in the end. It’s a combination of drug dealers, manufacturers,

And the blind and persistent arrogance of the State, in constantly overreaching to try and do what is impossible. Actually establish prohibition.

So similarly to how you need to solve the drug crisis, by systemic reform, legalization and de-commercialization-

You’d also solve the problem by destroying the corporate monopoly of power. Media doesn’t need to have such a strong incentive to create any and all content that people will watch. That’s only a side effect of capitalism. A different and more social society could leave more room for niche media.

I think your metaphor doesn’t hold up as well when Roseanne gets added to the equation. That is very much niche media. Infact a lot of harmful and extreme content seems to thrive in niche media without the backing of corporate media.

Counter point. Lots of genuinely nice people have mental health issues too. No excuse really.

There’s a gradient. Most mental health issues allow people to retain will and discern over reality. But there are some disorders and mental issues that hamper the ability to tell reality from fantasy, some completely detach the person’s perception from the real world. Hallucinations and delirium can have disease awareness or not (the person is aware they are hallucinating). When you lose that, then there’s no way of telling which behavior is conscious decision and which is a reaction to delirium. There’s even disordered behavior, when the brain just no longer responds to the prefrontal cortex and the person is just not there. She seems to be a tad gone if she thinks that Kamala Harris is a clone controlled by Obama. You could replace them with a goblin controlled by Satan, and it’s just as irrational. Hallucinations and delirium are culturally sensitive and take form according to locally relevant symbols and themes. She is definitely no longer in touch with reality.
