    I saw the movie yesterday, prompted after this post, and the beach scene where he desperately tries to summon some sort of normalcy, in an attempt to exorcize or rationalize what happened, but ends up in frustration and anger whilst literally dragging the kids around, is one of the most tragic and comedic at the same time, scenes I’ve ever seen.
    Thank you for this suggestion. Gena was transcending.

      Honestly very happy about, that you went and watch it after the post / suggestion here. The scene you are talking about is a great scene. As you said, tragic and comic. The whole despair and the rollercoaster ride in one scene. Gena is outstanding in all of her husband’s movies, but Cassavetes himself was something else!
