you can just see Messi is honestly kinda flustered

and when he’s gonna be in Zidanes position hes gonna be just as much of an inspiritaion to the players playing then

I’m sure there’s some nostalgia informing my feelings here but for me the mid 2010s were my favorite time being a football fan because it was like… just before Pep/Klopp came into the Premier League and completely changed the footballing meta.

The days of the no. 10 who was a bit of a luxury player are past us

I know what you are saying and I’m sure it’s a thing in gaming, but “footballing meta” just sounds so off. And because not all people know specific terms from other hobbies, I don’t quite using them out of their context.

That’s a bit weird though. Meta is just a normal word and has been used more and more in football and other sports. How else are words supposed to become common words? Meta is the perfect word for what is meant.

i would probably add that most top teams were much more distinct in their way playing. Nowadays i feel like most of the UCL games are more or less the same sadly, unless it’s a team playing it for the first time. Football truly peaked in the 2010-2016.

Every photo of Ronaldo and Zidane constantly look like they’re trying not to kiss each other so don’t think he’d be too worried

I dread the day when the genius that is Lionel Messi will retire. Football won’t be the same.

The whole interview was great. As someone who idolized Zidane both as a player and as a coach that was amazing. Two of the absolute best discussing football is something I can’t get bored watching ever. It’s great to see the amount of respect they both have for one another. That was a great interview. I would love to see one with these two + Ronaldo if he could just be nice, so I can enjoy their conversation about football. Maybe in a few years when he mellows down, but I do understand his competitiveness.

Have Messi and Ronaldo played together any match yet (charity/friendly match)? It’s the one hypothetical people ask constantly throughout the years of their rivalry.

The entire conversation was so fascinating. I don’t think I’ve heard Messi talk other than short match interviews.

Wait till 2026 and Messi will do a whole 30 minute interview during World Cup in English with a southern accent

I remember watching a Messi interview where he showed Zidane jersey hanging on his wall at home. Very cool 👍🏼

So i saw the whole video at the end these guys exchange there world cup jersey’s. While Zidane was signing and writing a message on his jersey, Messi was mesmerized seeing it and and said “What a shirt!”.

Very subtle, but massive props to whoever was in charge of both men’s wardrobes

Messi wearing a shirt with the modern three stripe logo, and the Messi logo while Zidane wearing the classic Adidas logo, I’m pretty convinced this isn’t coincidental

Two very different generations, two absolute legends
