I think this is a very fair review of Full Gear 2023, absolutely agree that Hangman vs Swerve is one of the best matches AEW have ever done.
Thanks for this. I didn’t realize Julia’s now the youngest champ in AEW history. It’s well earned and I bet it’s going to be a long time before someone takes that record from her.
It’s hard to disagree with the Bucks/Jets match. One thing I will disagree with is his point that Toni’s win was expected. I personally thought Shida was going to win and Toni was going to go even deeper in her downward spiral. I don’t think I was alone in thinking that either. Like you said though, pretty fair criticism overall.
Agreed on Shida/Storm, I’m getting really annoyed at Shida only have short reigns.
I don’t even think Storm needs the title right now, her character work is the most engaging of anyone in the women’s division (even above Hart), and as you say her losing would have allowed a reason for a further descent in to madness.
Definitely. The only reason I can think for putting the belt on Toni is that they want her to do some promotional stuff (TV, radio, podcasts, what have you) in character. If they don’t than it’s even more confusing.
