People are overworked in almost every industry in the world, why should we necessarily care more about the ones who get paid astronomically to play what is at the end of the day an inconsequential game for a living?

Erm, the players were the ones that forced the globalization of the market in football (see Bosman ruling). Beforehand,football was much more localized with only the World Cups serving as a global show off. Now, it’s a different market where everyone and their mother is searching high and wide across the globe for the next top talents.

They get paid when they are injured, get paid when they are sick, get paid when they cant be bothered turning up for training,for a couple of hours a day.
