I play sci-fi most of the time. I once had the idea of poisoning some boarding space pirates by mixing bleach and acid, creating chlorine gas. The group loved it and asked for more. So now my search history contains some really questionable stuff.
I mean it just takes time and a lot of poop. After a year or so bacteria and stuff break your poop down. So, what you are going to want to do is boil that huge pile of year old poop. Then strain it, but keep the water. Then boil the water down slowly. I’d probably let the last bit evaporate on its own. But, if you do it right. You wind up with some nice saltpeter crystals, or so I’ve heard. Also, I’ve heard tell that most poops will work but it really needs to be covered from rain.

Yep, a really big source was bat guano from caves. But, I have also heard that the dirt from old outhouses.

But for real you want old composted poop. Not fresh stinky poop.
I actually did this a couple months ago because my DM gave me a flare gun and eventually the question came up: “Hey, where do you keep getting ammunition for this thing?”, and so I started a pot ash farm out of the trunk of our troupe’s car that I sneak everyone’s poop into.
Step 1: Make sure it’s bat poop.
Step 2: Prepare Fireball.
