Exactly this. I work in IT and when looking for an answer I would Google search my question followed by Reddit and normally find a post with the answer I needed. I hope Sysadmin here becomes just as active.
Not new bands but new to me. I managed to be a mild metalhead my whole life yet never listened to Iron Maiden. I started on their music a few months ago. I can’t believe I waited until I was in my forties to pick them up. Amazing guitar work and great vocals.
Half-Life 2. I have so many playthroughs that I lost count. At the time of release, the gameplay and physics were mind-blowing. The atmosphere over time got even better when Valve released bloom lighting. The water and sky were breath taking. I still go back and visit to this day.
I had an unhealthy obsession with Bloodborne. Finished it only twice but had so many fresh starts and then just did Chalice Dungeons for a while. It fulfilled my need for cosmic horror in a way that no other game has ever done.
Presearch. I run a node and get paid for running it. The searches are solid as well.
Taking it way back to the OG Unreal. The game was amazing as well as the music.
Not for daily use but I run 3 Ubuntu servers here hosting various types of services.
Tried searching for 40k nothing pops up. I look almost daily for grimdank, Warhammer and 40k to hopefully pop up a community. Nothing so far. That or jerboa’s search function isn’t the best.
I deleted my 10 year old account and haven’t looked back. It was all useless karma after all.
90 percent of my day currently is working in Azure portal and PowerShell. I commute 20 miles to the office to do this. Upper management says we need to be on site because we are team oriented. And teams need to be present to work well together. The other 10 percent of my day is complaining with my team.
Not digging to China obviously.
Actraiser. That game was my favorite when it came out. Part Sim part platformer. Blew me away as a kid. I still give it a play through every few years.
IT Swiss Army Knife. My current position is in Infrastructure but I dabble in SQL, Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, team management, MDM, etc. The infrastructure here is solid and requires little maintenance so I’m sometimes glad to have other areas to work in. I’m looking for a move soon to something less all over the place and focus on more on Azure as a whole. Something remote would be nice vs. coming to an office on the daily to work in nothing but cloud services.

Too late. I just deleted everthing
I have been branching out into genres that I normally don’t play. Having fun in Divinity Original Sin and Stellaris. Taking time to learn something a bit more complicated than just shooting stuff blindly.
I just deleted my account which was over 10 years old. I don’t need that kind of negativity. Only positivity from here on out. Keep being awesome Lemmy.
Starship Troopers!. Would you like to know more?
DayZ can be fun. Building up a base and trying to survive together. A bit of a learning curve but a very social game. Especially if you find a good private PVE server.
