That’s a slightly horrifying thought… My wife has keratoconus and has to wear hard contacts (scleral lenses, but functionally the same thing) in order to see at all.

Well, no. It’s a full-blown Debian VM running on your portable Linux-based device, with its own virtual network adapter that accesses the internet via NAT through your phone’s physical network adapter. Just like a VM on a normal server.

The terminal program used to access said VM happens to be a web app. Very much like Spice, NoMachine, and others. You can even SSH into it from Termux if you forward the port.

IMO its not about the item, but the intent. I know we’re getting into hypotheticals and rhetoricals, but IMO, the line is doing anything that causes harm to another living being without feeling remorse.

Stealing a water bottle from a megacorp doesn’t harm anybody. Stealing a water bottle from a homeless person can mean life or death.

Ah, that’s a good point. The full tower version has space for that, though.

I’m not saying you should get an Optiplex 7050 specifically, but a used office PC tower (like an Opitplex, HP Elitedesk, Lenovo Thinkcenter, etc) can be picked up for under $500, ready to go, and has more than enough processing power to handle the loads you’re asking of it. Plus, they usually have Intel’s AMT management option (aka “vPro”), which allows you to remotely manage the PC even when it’s powered off.
