Video of it in use [1:00] (no audio): https://youtu.be/YoOaJclkSZg

The Department of Defense’s research agency, DARPA, releasedfootage on Monday showing the bullet, after completing a prototype in February, as part of DARPA’s Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) program. Footage posted to DARPA’s official YouTube channel shows live-fire tests by an expert sniper and a first-time sniper. In both cases, the bullet course corrects in midair, speeding toward a target even if it’s not centered in the crosshairs. An optical guidance system enables the bullet to compensate for weather, wind and other factors that might push it off course.

    So what happened to it?

The Wikipedia entry doesn’t mention anything after 2016.

My money is on them being cost-prohibitive to do at scale

If you do things right, you just need one. Maybe launched from a tiny drone loitering out of sight.

        Not sure what you mean.
But I wonder if they are in use and classified right now. I don’t know if it is a good idea or not, but with recent tech it seems more plausible

Honestly amazed you can pack that kind of thrust/drag vectoring tech into a package that small. And make it work at varying RPM and velocity, whilst rotating at semi-predictable revolution speed. 1:15 barrel twist on the gun sure, but the velocity isn’t 100% fixed nor the environmentals

The D in DARPA is Defense.

Sometimes projects disappear for good reason.

Sometimes projects disappear for better reason.

I’m speculating if it works as well as this video shows maybe that’s why it disappeared.
