Yes, because I can tell the difference between a canonical community name and a vanity name. If you look at the url for the community, what does it say?
That name can’t be changed while the “interesting global news” vanity name can.
Think about this: Someone using a client like mine that does not show the URL and only the display name would not necessarily know the distinction. Communities can have short URLs, and give the full community name in the display name. That’s the entire point of having it.
