Conservative activists, led by a local pastor and outspoken Israel advocate, pushed the district, Mission CISD, to excise books mostly about gender, sexuality and race. Their demands represented an extreme version of a nationwide culture war over books that has played out in recent years — and ensnared a number of books with Jewish themes.

In Mission, the long list of books on the chopping block includes a recent illustrated adaptation of Anne Frank’s diary; both volumes of Art Spiegelman’s Holocaust graphic memoir “Maus”; “The Fixer,” Bernard Malamud’s novel about a historical instance of antisemitic blood libel; and “Kasher in the Rye,” a ribald memoir by Jewish comedian Moshe Kasher.

So if a librarian put bibles and christian related books at a place of prominence and recommended all the kids read only those books, you would be okay with that because they are “an expert”?

        Kids have access to bibles.

You are making shit up on-the-fly to invent some way to go “ah-HA!” as if defending against censorship is a contradiction.

        Fucking stop it.

I am just putting it in a way that you will understand how it can be objectional. Librarians are just people, they can be ideologically driven, and are. I dont give a shit about their alleged expertise in what books are good for kids, it doesnt exist.

It’s their fucking job. They are specifically educated and tested for that expertise.

You are why Rule 1 is a failure of moderation.

The possibility of one librarian being an asshole does nothing to excuse your kneejerk slander of the entire profession. We are talking about bigots censoring books against Nazis - and you come in here to shit up the thread with what-ifs about imaginary evils. Y’know who’s actually pushing religious horseshit on students? The same asshole politicians censoring these books.

So you cant think of anyone that has a job that is bad at it?

How have I not been civil?

You dont understand the actual books that are being censored and are desired to be censored, you are just repeating propaganda.
