Same reason farmers shoot wild pigs or deer, they destroy the crops.

Kangaroo numbers have exploded since British settlement. There are roughly 15 million of these Eastern greys and up to 50 million kangaroos in total as they breed in large cycles and cause huge issues.

        Sounds like humans.

I’m sure it has been asked, but can you not eat more of them?

We do eat a lot of them, and there are special programs for farmers to get professionals to come out kill them and ship them off to be turned into food.

I’ve never seen exported kangaroo meat. Is that even a thing? Am I missing out much? How good it is?

              It’s kinda meh tbh.

Tastes like a pretty generic meat, best used minced for a burger or something.

Emu steaks can be nice if prepared well.

Now crocodile is fucking fantastic, it’s like chicken and squid together.

It’s really good, very lean meat, slightly sweet and not too gamey. It’s very expensive here in NSW at least, I’ve had better luck with prices in Victoria but haven’t been there in ages so not sure of how it’s priced in comparison to other meats atm.
