Question I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on possibly making votes public. This has been discussed in a lot of other issues, but here's a dedicated one for discussion. Positives Could help figh...
Probably better to post in the github issue rather than replying here.
You want this to be the only way people can address bad posts. I am telling you, in detail, why that’s a terrible idea. This is what you want! This is what you fucking asked for.
This is what you want for the entirety of Lemmy. If you’re not keen on that, change your damn mind.
I keep trying to address the goddamn argument. “I read what you said” is not that. You’re supposed to read things… and then think about them… and say something about them. What you’ve done instead is get offended that someone was miffed at your misrepresentation, and then repeatedly say ‘stop saying things!’ with negative self-awareness.
Meanwhile.
The entire goddamn point is:
YOU WANT TALKING TO BE THE ONLY RESPONSE.
I am the one defending downvotes, as a feedback mechanism. You don’t want them. You want the only possible interaction between users to be what I keep trying to do, with you, despite your repeated bewildering denial. This comment you are reading right now is what you fucking asked for. This is what you want. This is what feedback looks like. Do you understand that, or do you just want to spout your opinions into the void and act surprised when other people type stuff back at you?
I get what you’re saying, but lemmy.blahaj.zone has had downvotes disabled from the start.
Presumably, that’s something their users are fine with or want.
Our instance has no plans to get rid of them at this time.
Choice is fine.
I currently happen to agree that downvotes have a purpose as some sort of community driven self-moderation, albeit mostly toothless.
Blahaj and their users are free to prefer not having downvotes. It’s fine to disagree, but you won’t change their mind by endlessly replying to them.
No.
