One thing about braille, it’s more difficult to produce, and less space efficient than just letters on the page. As you can see, the braille version has a lot more pages. (keep in mind the version for sighted people I linked is a German version covering all three books). In addition the sighted version, despite being presented as a luxury edition, is cheaper than any of the three lord of the rings books in braille. This could just be blind people being price gouged, though. But nevertheless, reading as a hobby is more difficult and more expensive for the blind.

I have a copy of the Bible in Braille. It takes up an entire 2 ft. wide by 6-ish ft. tall bookshelf. (.6 by 1.8 m)
