Putin Signs Gender Reassignment Ban Into Law - The Moscow Times

President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a controversial law that bans legal and surgical sex changes, a move that deprives transgender Russians of the right to access gender-affirming services.  The law, which makes "medical interventions aimed at changing the sex of a person" and "the state registration of a change of gender without an operation" illegal, was swiftly passed by both houses of the Russian parliament earlier this month.  The law also bans individuals who have undergone gender reassignment from adopting children and annuls marriages in which one of the partners is transgender.  It enters into force immediately upon its publishing on the government website.

    I find it interesting and sad that yet again, our traitor politicians follow the same plan as Putin.

      This time it was the other way around, Putin and his cronies never cared about it until culture war monsters from the west started their current round. There are some speculation that they started it with the help of russian troll farms, but it’s hard to tell

          Oh, all of them were always extremely homophobic, it’s an oldest Russian tradition that come from prison culture. For the “deep russian”, the part of russian culture that Putin represents, being gay is the worst thing that can happen. But they never focused on trans identities that much before
