Once things had settled down enough for people to have any idea of what was going on and what we needed to do, it was the elderly who volunteered to go into the nuclear reactor. They knew that they would die but also that they didn’t have long left anyway, so they should sacrifice themselves for their communities and the country.
I think if I had an approaching deadline, I might do the same.
