Beautiful barred owl in our backyard last week in Cuyahoga county (Ohio). 8:00 am on a foggy morning. Stayed 20 minutes. He was checking out our little fish pond.

Would the owl have gone for the fish in there? Or just a curious lookity look? I’m curious now.
Would it eat the fish? Certainly.
Would it eat those fish? The water looks decently deep for an owl. Even the Fish/Fishing Owls don’t like getting wet from all I’ve read, so these fish were probably just a curiosity or it was looking to see if there was an opportunity.
The Barred has a very wide diet, from mammals and birds, to snakes and worms, fish, frogs, and crustaceans. If it’s fresh meat and it can grab it, it’ll likely eat it.
