I’m all for cuts in the government, but I have zero evidence that the cuts Trump is making are beneficial to the country. If he wants to balance the budget, cutting a few hundred here and there won’t cut it, we need to either raise taxes or cut entitlements, probably both.
Trump, here’s a plan that should work:
Eliminate cap on SS
Eliminate SS benefits for people making >400% FPL
Cut military spending by 10%, and allow every agency to stockpile up to 50% of unused yearly budget
With excesses from 1&2, create a negative tax bracket for poor people, and start replacing federal welfare programs with equivalent cash
Repeat 4 until we have an actual safety net where people can quit terrible jobs and start businesses without worrying how to make rent
1&2 fixes SS shortfalls, 3 cuts much of the rest of the deficit, 4 cuts unnecessary programs (and jobs), and 5 creates real wealth by creating a path out of wage slavery. We’ll end up with something like UBI, less federal programs, etc.
But the cuts I’ve seen look like loyalty purges. I think we should make a lot of cuts, but I don’t really trust Trump or Musk to make them.

Biden had 4 years to make changes like that. But he didn’t. I didn’t vote for Trump, but it’s hilarious watching the chaos he is creating. The chaos is well-deserved after years of people sitting around, collecting big paychecks, and doing nothing.
Since i didn’t vote for him, none of it is my fault. But it’s fun watching.
Citation needed. My understanding is that Trump cut air traffic control just before a high profile crash that was likely due to fatigue by air traffic control. I’m not sure if it’s causitive, I’m just worried that some of those cuts we won’t know the impact of for months or even years, but the impacts could be big.
These cuts seem to be largely for show instead of actually solving scope creep, which would require an act of Congress. I highly doubt those cuts were people sitting on their hands, they were likely people who disagreed ideologically with him. Ideology doesn’t have a place in the executive branch, which is supposed to merely enforce and follow the law.
Biden
And Trump didn’t either during his first term, nor did Obama or Bush during their terms. Each successive president made the problem worse, and Trump could very well make it worse in the other direction. They’re making cuts to things I doubt they fully understand.
That said, I agree it’s hilarious watching the chaos. I can’t do much about it anyway, so I guess I’ll get the popcorn out.
Hopefully we’ll collectively realize how dumb we are and elect someone competent next time.
How do you know they weren’t doing anything?
