I’m a somewhat observant catholic, I’ve been dealing with a lot of issues from fellow Catholics, including anti-lgbt statement from them

I’m now going under faith crisis, I have no idea what to do. I don’t wanna leave catholicism but at the same time I want to, The more I look at Catholics, the more I’m getting astray from Christianity especially when I saw someone celebrating a death of a “openly gay” person. and that really disgusts me when I read it, the amount of hatred (some) Catholics have towards the LGTBQ+ community is really staggering to me, also I don’t feel safe with some of my Catholic friends I have. And seems like they kinda of hateful against anyone disagree with their political beliefs, or even religion sometimes

Now I don’t know what to do, either embracing agnosticism . Or just trapped in this religion forever,

I will appreciate for every advice or reply to me. I’m very happy that I find a place to post about issues I’m going through,

the bigoted views of other catholics.

This, even tho not all of them are like that, but I completely agree with you regarding the bigotry within some Catholic circles.

If you spoke out against them. They will throw “insulting a fellow Catholic” at your face like how a baby will throw Lego pieces after you gave it to them. Thanks in advance <3

This feels like group identity overwhelming personal identity. Like “whatever else I might be, I’m a Catholic/Republican/American first.”

I don’t understand that. I’m a former soldier. I swore an oath to defend my country. I love it. And I will stand up when I think it is wrong. I stand up for things I believe in, but it’s not transitive. And I don’t let others hide behind that cloak, either.

That’s probably why I don’t consider myself a member of any particular organization. I’ve voted a certain way in every election since 2000 but I don’t consider myself a member of that party and will fight them when I think they are wrong. They represent me, they don’t define me.

That’s probably not helpful regarding Catholicism, but it seems to be a nuance many people are lacking in general these days.
