I thought they were banning cruise ships? The article mentioned the paying part that they put on hold but didn’t talk about the cruise ship issues.
Cruise ships isn’t the major threat.
Venice is slowly sinking in a time of rising oceans. There is currently a storm barrier protecting the city from coastal surges, but there is a worry that the lagoon will turn into a lake.
Then why is Unesco asking them to get rid of them? They are a huge threat.
It is a way of handling the overtourism. Cruise ships are usually the worst tourists for an area as they clog the more famous monuments and contribute the least to the local economy.
Amsterdam is banning cruise ships not Venice.
