    On demand water heaters are just fine for the vast majority of purposes and should be the same price unless your oil and gas provider are not charging the full price for their products.

    Also, in general, electric appliances will always be cheaper over time due to lower maintenance costs, much lower insurance rates (assuming a full electric building) and lower cost to replace given any idiot can do so without needing to be a licensed plumber with gas training.
