Summary

Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s daughter, accused her father of giving a “definitely Nazi salute” at two rallies in January, calling his actions “fucking cringe.”

In an interview with Teen Vogue, she criticized Musk’s involvement in the Trump administration and advocated for trans rights, emphasizing the importance of gender-affirming care for minors.

Wilson, who transitioned as a teen, described Musk as cold and absent, and revealed she no longer associates with him or his family.

She also expressed fear over anti-trans legislation under Trump’s administration.

No, I’m saying she’s not an historian specialized in Nazi Germany.

No, I’m saying that all experts agree it is so her opinion doesn’t matter.

The experts say it’s a Nazi salute. There’s not a single credible person claiming it’s not. If you can’t tell what an expert is, you’re likely not intelligent enough to take part in this conversation. You must be this tall to ride the ride.

You should work on your reading comprehension.

All experts agree it is a Nazi salute, we don’t need the opinion of people who have no expertise on the subject, even if they’re somewhat related to Musk (considering how he wasn’t involved as a father it’s not as if her opinion of him is based on anything but his public persona).

So if we scoured your comment history, we won’t find you weighing your opinion in on things that you are not an expert in, right?

The difference is that my opinion doesn’t get shared by The Guardian as if it was of any importance.

                    Except that… She isn’t.

The only thing that makes her a public figure right now is the fact that she’s the daughter of a man that wasn’t part of her life. Remove that and her opinion on his Nazi salute is no more important than yours or mine.

We shouldn’t give attention to people whose only “credentials” is being someone’s kid (especially if they don’t personally know them anyway), it gives importance to something that doesn’t say anything about their character or knowledge. She’s not inheriting anything from him, she’s irrelevant in humanity’s history, just like you and me. She was pushed at the front of the scene for reasons she has no control over and that aren’t relevant in her everyday life.

Now, show me she actually knows something about Nazis and that she has credentials to make her opinion worthy of being shared in the news and I’ll shut up, until then I would much rather see the news relay the opinion of experts instead of the opinion of social media influencers.

You don’t, but her opinion is useless when all experts already agree that’s what it was.

It’s like asking actors their political opinion. Who gives a fuck what they think? They’re actors, not political analysts.

And yet, here you are with your opinion that no one asked for. Are you seeing how this works yet?

So you’re saying my opinion is just as important as hers, she gets to share hers, I get to share mine, will The Guardian write an article about my opinion now? Are you seeing how this works yet?

No, I’m saying she is relevant to the story. You aren’t. Yet here you are trying to erase her from it, while adding yourself to it- via the comments.

Yell all you want. She’s still going to have her say in legitimate news articles, while you’re relegated to ranting about it in forums located in the far reaches of the internet.

Musk was absent from her life, the only reason people talk about her is because she’s her daughter even though she doesn’t know him any better than you and me.

And again, her opinion on what constitutes a Nazi salute or not is irrelevant, just like a hockey player’s opinion on climate change isn’t.

A random person on the Internet, just like her, but my opinion isn’t on The Guardian’s website.
