      From the article:

Spain’s opposition to Israel’s war in Gaza and its support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression have made it a major target for cyberattacks, and throughout the day there was heightened speculation that the crisis could be the result of nefarious action.

Axel Springer is deeply Zionist, involved in “selling” stolen land in the Westbank through an Israeli subsidiary and for the German company employees need to sign a confirmation of loyalty to Israel. Also the tabloid BILD has been involved in spreading desinformation to delay a ceasefire negotiations as a favor to the Netanyahu government. German Axel Springer media would never mention Israel as a possible attacker. Most of the time they don’t even mention Israel as an attacker even if an attack is well documented.

But in Brussels, European Commission Executive Vice President Teresa Ribera appeared to dismiss that possibility, saying there was “nothing that allows us to say that there is any kind of sabotage or cyberattack.”

The follow up paragraph is not very convincing to any informed or skeptical reader. Obviously the EU is interested in not creating any panic, just as the national governments are. So they would only talk about an attack happening if they have the feeling of a controlled situation and it being politically beneficial to publicly denounce an attack.

So i don’t think that the Axel Springer leadership can or wants to exert that much influence on Politico. At least not for now.

Why is Politico “trash by default” in your eyes if not because the leadership of Axel Springer would influence the articles according to their ideological convictions?

The article is not consistent with Axel Springers publicly stated ideology, which is a good indication that this specific article was not influenced by the leadership of Axel Springer.

So from my perspective it is more “tinfoil hat” to outright dismiss any article in Politico based solely on the fact that Axel Springer bought them a few years back, instead of actually looking into what the article says. When it comes to German media such as BILD or Welt there is plenty of evidence that the Axel Springer CEO Döpfner directly influenced the journalistic work to further his political ideology and parties he thought to align best with it. When it comes to Politico i am not aware of any evidence of such meddling and find it silly to attack them on that basis unless there is specific indications in the articles themselves.
