Dear DATATERM Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I, Ramses Revengeday, the Admin of DATATERM based in Germany, bring forth an important announcement regarding our federation with lemmynsfw.com.
Due to legal obligations that stem from operating in Germany, I regret to inform you that we are compelled to discontinue our federation with lemmynsfw.com. It has come to my attention that this platform allows the posting of Loli-Art, which falls under the category of child pornography as per German law.
While lemmynsfw.com does feature other NSFW art, it is imperative that we uphold the principles of our legal system and ensure the safety of our community. Therefore, we must take immediate action to block the entire instance of lemmynsfw.com on our platform.
I understand that this decision may disappoint some of you who enjoy the content available on lemmynsfw.com. However, please note that you still have the option to create your own account on their platform to access their content directly.
I apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Your feedback is highly valued, and I am here to provide assistance in any way I can.
Thank you for your attention and ongoing support.
Update
There seems to be a twist to this issue @[email protected] sent us a link to an update.

We will leave out the Federation for the time being and discuss the issue internally.
And that is why the way lemmy shares content between instances needs a serious rewrite. It’s a huge issue that one could break laws, simply because they allow an account created with their instance to visit other instances. On the other hand, it’s a serious design flaw that the only recourse instance admins have is to block other instances entirely.
