      Especially gasoline. Vanillin can and is being made from petroleum. Most of it actually is being made from petroleum.

      The other main way of synthetically making Vanillin is from Lignin which is way more sustainable and a byproduct of the paper production.

      I’ve also recently read that it can be made out of literal shit. Apparently they got a Nobel price for that in 2006/07

      It can really be made from a lot of things since it’s a realativly simple compound.

        That’s actually true. From what I’ve read about 85% of Vanillin is made from crude oil
