You’re just missing out on beehaw. You can go take a look if you want, they do have good content over there, but only the admins can create communities so it’s a bit wierder. Sh.itjust.works is also in talks to regenerate with beehaw when moderation tools have matured more. Ultimately it doesn’t really matter but I prefer to recommend instances where you will get every post in case the newcomer happens to join an instance defederated from the one their friend is on.
