Humanity’s default is tribalism. It’s how your brain wants to think. It’s easy and satisfying and it tends to work okay. So in any ideology, there’s people trying to apply that model, because that’s how they believe everything works. Reasoned argument is a learned behavior and they opted out. That’s hard to distinguish from someone being wrong on purpose just to fuck with you, but it is distinct, in ways that are dangerous to miss.
