I sure hope not, because I absolutely cannot stand that woman.

Players should be free to say or do whatever they want on their own time, but when they’re playing, they should just play. If LeBron wants to run for office or something, more power to him, but he should keep that kind of thing off the court.

We don’t want to hear your opinion here. You should keep your opinion in your own home and not on the internet.

I hope that didn’t go over your head.

Do you want an echo chamber/safe space? I thought a lot of people came from Reddit to avoid that. If you really do want a safe space, why not find an instance that shares your view and defederates from the broader lemmy community?

I like using lemmy (and Reddit before that) because I like having my views challenged so I can learn and grow from others. That’s why I’m here, and why I intend to stay. I have had many productive conversations where I changed my opinion on something, I I sincerely hope for that to continue.

Yeah, it went over your head. The rest of your comment proves my point, though. How you managed to argue against yourself without realizing it is quite impressive. It’s hilarious how it’s such a big deal when you’re told what you can say and when.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. I don’t care what hockey players say in interviews, ads, etc. I do care about what happens from the start of the game to the end.

It’s the same in the workplace. I keep my opinions to myself when I’m on the clock, because it’s not the time or place for it. A hockey game is a workplace, and since it’s televised with advertisers and whatnot, there needs to be rules in place to appeal to a wider audience. So I’m merely expecting hockey players to act similarly to regular workers here. I would expect any workplace to have a dress code, especially for positions facing the public, and that’s no different here.

AFAIK, warmups and practices aren’t televised, so they shouldn’t have the same rules as game days. I’m talking specifically about game days here.

You really need to not share your opinion online. I don’t think this is the place for you to speak your mind.

I guess you’re not interested in discussion. Have a great day.

I’m really not understanding your point. Perhaps try to make it more clearly? Because what it sounds like is that you think an NHL hockey game is a public forum, which makes no sense to me.
