The umbrella term “girl games” exists because genres that traditionally appeal to women are underfunded and called “casual” or not thought of as real games. That video I linked explains it well. There are whole genres that are dear to many women’s childhood that were killed for no other reason than they were games that appealed to women. I play a variety of games, but until all the kinds of games I play are thought of as real games by the average dude this kind of term will exist.
