I don’t buy it. Sounds too much like a scapegoat.
And even if it were true my reaction would be “so? Sounds like a reasonable thing to do.” I would feel that way even if I were German, I think.
Based on what information? A bunch of people on Lemmy have tried to peg this on the US especially but with no evidence. Assumptions are apparently a sufficient stand-in when fingers are pointed at the US.
