“Nakem” means “revenge” in Hebrew. They planned to poison water mains to achieve their goal, but were thwarted by police. Later, they poisoned thousands of loaves of bread which were actually consumed, resulting in widespread illness, although no deaths are known to have occurred as a result.

I would say not exactly, because it sounds like these people were just trying to kill Germans and not Nazis specifically. The Basterds killed for retribution and to end the war, this however would just be ethnic genocide like the holocaust itself—if I’m understanding correctly

To be fair, it wasn’t really possible to be german at the time of the holocaust and have no idea what was going on. Anything short of attempting to stop the holocaust means complacency with the holocaust, which effectively makes you a nazi.

And to be perfectly clear I am not claiming that all germans in the modern day are nazis. Merely that those that did not attempt to stop the holocaust were almost as guilty as the perpetrators.

I dont trust any of these “hunters” tbh. They are fanatic in the first place (otherwise they wouldnt hunt or take revenge on nazies) and that means they dont have the mental fortitude to make proper judgement over peoples involvement in certain conduct.
