I’d imagine the lack of politicians specifically appealing to nonreligious folk is mostly due to the fact that nonreligious people can have a diverse set of beliefs, which by and large makes it impossible to have a direct path to appeal. On the other hand religious folk tend to start from some baseline of beliefs and values dictated by their chosen religion, so you have an already articulated set of positions to take to appeal to them.
