Hey everyone!

Nothing major today but just a request from you all going forward:

Given with the nature of how federation works between kbin and Lemmy (and everything else lol), kbin’s attachment function does not (yet) seem to push images out to Lemmy. As such any comment where a kbin user uses the ‘Add Media’ button to include a photo essentially shows up completely blank for Lemmy users. (Example)

At least until this is resolved by Ernest, please use Imgur (or another photohost of your choice) and link the picture you wish in the comment. This way everyone gets to see the content and our Lemmy users don’t get left out (specially from the laughs of our Meme Monday threads, that’s some good shit, pal). You can choose to still use the kbin ‘Add Media’ function if you want to, just make sure to include a direct link also.

Given how quick development has been moving as of late I doubt this will be a long term issue so we shouldn’t need to make a full on rule of it (yet) but we can address that if it comes to it.

Note: The above does not count for the Microblog, Lemmy users don’t have access to it anyway, but feel free to put imgur links there should you want to lol.

Carry on!

Edit: Ernest commented below - The image issue looks to be a Lemmy issue, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fingers crossed it’ll be fixed at some point.

If we get user tags at some point I am gonna tag you Beetlejuice cause boom, there ya are :P

If it’s anything related to Lemmy’s software version (I seem to recall that can cause issues with compatibility to us?) for extra info, the 2 lemmy instances I’m using when checking (lemmy.zip and dbzer0) both look to be on 0.18.5 of their software.

It definitely seems to be a recent change, because I was able to see images in threads previously, but I can’t on the latest Meme Monday thread on either of the instances I use (lemmy.blahaj.zone and midwest.social, both on 0.18.5). Could definitely be a reversion in either the Kbin or Lemmy software.

I can’t tell you exactly when it broke, because the app I usually use (Eternity) doesn’t support inline images.
