Don’t be too excited: “a free weekly rotating fighter”. KI had a demo with a single fighter before but I think it was exclusive to the Microsoft Store. The news is only about that version coming to Steam.

I think it’s a good idea. Basically, it’s like a free demo, but you can play as long as you like before deciding to buy. There’s no MTX BS that I can tell, just an option to buy the full game to access all of the content.

Seems like a pretty good idea to me, I wish more games did something similar.

Nobody’s saying that demos are bad but the “free to play” marker gives a wrong impression how complete the release is.

You don’t get the full game and just buy costumes and backgrounds.

IDK, there’s two purchase options, one is free and the other looks like the full game. So I think it’s totally fine in this case. The description is also very clear.

            Apparently not:

Steam has demos for a reason. F2P and demo aren’t the same.

IDK, there are two options, “Free” and “Anniversary Edition.” The first bullet point that describes the “Anniversary Edition” says this:

              • Fight for Free! Play various game modes with a free weekly rotating fighter, including online multiplayer. Get the complete collection by Upgrading to the Anniversary Edition to unlock all 29 fighters, retro costumes, premium accessories, and more from Seasons 1-3!

If I see multiple versions of a game, I look at the description for an explanation of the differences. It’s not like it’s hidden anywhere, it would’ve been much easier for that person to just read the description than ask the community.

I really don’t see a problem here. If it was hidden in the list of DLC or something, or if there were multiple editions with confusing names (e.g. complete vs anniversary vs goty etc), I’d see your point. But there’s just one free and one paid version, and a clear explanation at the top of the description. It’s a non-issue.

This isn’t a demo, it’s a F2P vs complete edition, but the way it’s structured works like a demo. I think it’s a fantastic model since it doesn’t have that stupid cutoff or outdated code many demos have.

Then discuss with them. I merely made a clarifying reply to them.
